Trail Overview

Howell Lake Trail is a 4-mile ATV route featuring embedded rocks, small loose rocks, and tight curves through a forested area, including a logged section. Riders will encounter banked corners, wooden bridge crossings, and small climbing sections with embedded roots. The terrain remains mostly gradual, though certain sections pass through denser woods with narrower paths. Stop signs mark road crossings to ensure safety. This trail offers a moderate challenge with varied obstacles and terrain changes. The south end of the trail accesses the Howell Lake Loop.

Access Description

Tahuya is a popular OHV trail system located in the Tahuya State Forest, with primary access from the Elfendahl staging area, which offers a first-come, first-served campground and day-use parking. A Washington Discover Pass is required. Additional trailheads and campgrounds provide multiple entry points into the network. As an active working forest, trail routes and conditions are subject to change and closures due to ongoing logging operations.
