Trail Overview

The Colockum Wildlife Area west of Vantage, WA, offers a great introductory off-road experience with wide, well-traveled dirt and gravel roads that are generally smooth but can include some washboarding and loose sections depending on the season. The trail gradually climbs through open shrub-steppe terrain, making it an ideal place for beginners to get comfortable with basic off-road driving techniques like throttle control and picking lines. As you gain elevation, the landscape really opens up--on clear days, you'll be rewarded with expansive views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams rising above the rolling hills.
