Trail Overview
This is a dirt-based forest road that climbs to the top of Goat Mountain. At the top, there are 2 radio/phone towers, and you will have a panoramic view of the peaks and ridges in the area. The trail up is narrow and one vehicle wide in most places, with some two-track sections. There are places to pass should you encounter any other vehicles. There are some ruts and washouts up to a foot deep, so you will need to choose a line on the narrow trail. As you climb, there is one section with a 13% pitch and loose rock. There are multiple bumpy, rock garden sections, and some have large boulders sticking 8 inches to a foot out of the ground. There are no amenities on the trail, and you are over an hour from the nearest services or supplies, so travel prepared. Cellphone service was decent along the trail, and a high-clearance 4x4 is recommended for this trail.
