Trail Overview

The Green Dot road is a two-vehicle-wide, hard-packed dirt road with no obstacles. It winds along the ridge, providing 360-degree views in several spots. Wildflowers were in full bloom, and we briefly spotted two elk. Dust was a factor on the trail, and shade will be welcomed as temperatures in the area get well above 100 degrees in the summer months.

Take Exit 115 to Kittitas. Head west on 1st Avenue toward Main Street. Turn right onto Main Street, then turn left onto Patrick Avenue. Next, turn right onto Fairview Road, turn left onto Radar Road, and finally turn right onto Naneum Road. There is a large pullout where you can camp in the Naneum Ridge State Forest. Be on the lookout for free-range cattle, as they are common in the area and are generally accustomed to vehicles. Usually, they will stay in place, so be sure to drive slowly around any livestock you encounter.
