Trail Overview
This forest service road presents additional challenges during Washington's wet and snowy months, with muddy conditions, slick vegetation, and narrow ledges requiring careful navigation. The trail includes occasional ruts and rocks up to 12 inches in size, but most obstacles can be avoided while remaining on the designated path. Beyond the first switchback, the trail becomes increasingly narrow, with sections where tree cuts by previous users make for a tight fit. The route offers a steady climb with scenic views of the valley below. Wildlife sightings may include deer, hawks, and the characteristic PNW fog that frequently blankets the mountains. Pullouts along the trail provide opportunities for rest and observation. Access is subject to the open entrance gate. This trail is suitable for 2WD, AWD, and 4WD vehicles, 2WD vehicles should avoid going past the switchback.

Difficulty
The road is generally maintained until just before the switchback. After that, it quickly becomes more challenging due to rocks, ruts, wet foliage on the ground, and extremely narrow sections with ledges. It is recommended not to go further than the switchback, as turnaround spots are almost non-existent.
