Trail Overview
This trail is a gravel forest road that leads to Russell Ridge Trailhead, which is a Powersport trail. The road has been permanently closed at the 1.2-mile mark, and there are 3 cement road barriers blocking a full-size 4x4 from passing. There is an opening in the barricade for bikes and ATVs to pass through. There are several pull-offs for dispersed camping along this trail, and there are 2 small lakes off this trail as well. The lakes are Thunder Lake and Lightning Lake, with the larger and more scenic of the two being Lightning Lake. There is room for tent camping at the lake, and there are nearby pull-outs for vehicle camping. Cell phone service was fair, and the road up to the closure is accessible by all vehicle types.
