Trail Overview

Deep Creek / Snider Ridge FS 3067 in Olympic National Forest offers a rugged, increasingly remote climb that rewards drivers with sweeping views as you gain elevation. The road starts out fairly typical for the area, with hard-packed dirt and gravel, but quickly transitions into rougher, rock-strewn sections with ruts, washouts, and narrow shelf road segments that demand attention. As you wind your way up the ridge, breaks in the trees reveal glimpses of the surrounding forested hills and distant peaks, especially on clear days. Expect tight corridors in many sections, with heavy brush encroachment that will result in significant paint pinstriping for full-size vehicles. Conditions on this stretch can be challenging. Several washouts and off-camber sections narrow the trail considerably, and in places it feels better suited for ATVs or dirt bikes than full-width rigs. Overgrowth is a constant issue, and passing opportunities are limited. That said, the area is rich with opportunities to explore. Side spurs lead to quite dispersed camping spots, and the surrounding forest is excellent for hiking, hunting, and wildlife viewing. Keep an eye out for elk and deer, especially in the early morning or evening. This is a great route for those looking to get off the beaten path, but come prepared for tight, technical travel and potential trail damage.
