Trail Overview
This is a gravel-based forest road that runs through the National Forest into Private land. The trail passes by Summit Lake, and you will have a view of the pretty alpine lake. The beginning of the trail is more narrow and wooded, but closer to the end, it opens up to meadows before entering private property. There is a sign posted with "No Hunting" from that point all the way back to Highway 395. Some small ruts and washes make the trail a little bumpy, but overall, the trail is suitable for any vehicle type. Dispersed camping is available along this entire trail. Cellphone service is weak here, and you are approximately 30 miles from services or amenities, so travel prepared.
