Trail Overview
J44 is a moderate trail winding through the center of the trail system in dense, scenic forest featuring beech, birch, and hickory trees. The surface consists of smooth dirt with muddy ruts and puddles, and the route is notably curvy with many sharp turns around trees. The northern half follows a gradual ridgeline before descending toward J15 with semi-steep grades, looser rock, ruts, and embedded rock surfaces. While not overly technical, J44 is slightly more challenging than many of the easier trails nearby.
