Trail Overview

Big Woods Loop is a route that passes through the Big Woods State Forest and Big Woods Wildlife Management Area. The route is a basic forest road, with the surface being slightly rougher on the state forest side. The route passes through typical southeast Virginia woodland and skirts the Big Woods swamp. You can expect to see the normal fauna of found in southeast Virginia, to include deer, the occasional bear, and plenty of snakes. In the summer months, yellowjackets and biting flies are abundant. When crossing from the state forest side into the WMA, you are required to have A Restore the Wild Membership, Virginia hunting license, freshwater fishing license, boat registration, or an access permit while in the wildlife management area.

Arrived around 10pm last night to gates still open. Stayed out until about 12am. Perfect trail for beginner off-roaders. Decent little mud-holes to play around in as it rained the night we went. We were able to fit a 4x4 dually 3500 down there so most rigs should fit comfortably. No downed trees or anything either. Short drive so I recommend hitting the loop in reverse.
