Trail Overview
Forest Service Road 30215 serves as a spectacular, high-elevation backcountry segment of the renowned Paunsaugunt ATV Trail system. Covering 6.53 miles, this incredibly fun, tight, and winding single-lane dirt track immerses explorers deep into pristine Utah wilderness. The vibrant, rutted red-dirt path beautifully contrasts against the surrounding dense evergreen pines and striking, white-barked Aspen groves. While these Aspens are barren in the early spring, they transform this route into a mandatory destination for breathtaking, golden autumn foliage. As the trail gracefully traverses the high terrain, drivers are treated to sweeping, panoramic regional views and direct access to the famous Pink Cliffs viewpoint. Given the high elevation, early-season travelers should expect to encounter lingering snowbanks hugging the road's shaded edges. From serene meadow stretches to deeply wooded corridors, this dynamic two-track offers an unforgettable, visually stunning backcountry adventure.

Difficulty
FS 30215 earns a Level 3 Moderate technical rating almost entirely due to the presence of persistent, deep erosion ruts carved deeply into the soft red dirt. While the trail fundamentally lacks severe rock-crawling ledges or extreme off-camber hazards, these continuous, undulating ruts demand careful, deliberate wheel placement. A skilled driver in a standard AWD crossover can successfully navigate this road by carefully riding the high centers and picking smart lines, but a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended for a much more comfortable, stress-free transit. As always, wet conditions will significantly escalate the difficulty, turning the soft red dirt into slick, impassable mud.
