Trail Overview

Mineral Canyon Road is a 1.6-mile out-and-back (3.2-mile round trip) trail rated 3 of 10 in Grand County. This dirt track in the middle of the Labyrinth Rims Gemini Bridges is a Grand County Road up to the Fruit Bowl area, beyond that the road is closed. This is a destination trail for many during the annual GGBY Highline Festival, also known as the gathering around Thanksgiving. The road itself offers scenic views of high cliffs and typical colorful rock formations found in the area. Offering dispersed camping in the area, a trailhead is roughly 1 to 1.5 hours from Moab. In November, this trail will draw several hundred people to participate in or watch the GGBY Highline Festival. This is a unique gathering of adventurers who participate in a sport called "Slacklining," or the art of walking on ropes. Unlike tightropes, slacklines have to give and bounce. The first gathering was held in 2017 and each year until 2024. Due to land management issues, the event was canceled, with plans for the next gathering in 2025. The area near the trailhead also offers close access to the Mineral Bottom Landing for the Green River and the White Rim Trail to the south. This area has no phone service, and the nearest service is in Moab.
