Trail Overview
Hot Spring Road-Beaver County 40 is a 6.0-mile point-to-point trail rated 2 of 10 located in Beaver County, Utah. This trail is comprised of packed dirt and is generally well-graded. The trail provides access to the Blundell Geothermal Plant and passes the historic Roosevelt Hotel ruins. The Blundell Geothermal Plant is a 34-megawatt operating geothermal power plant that fees off the Roosevelt hydrothermal system with temperatures up to 250-degrees centigrade (480-degree Fahrenheit). In the late 1800s and early 1900s the Roosevelt hot springs were a destination for wealth and locals alike. The hot springs are located behind the fenced area about a mile north of the power plant. The hot springs can only be seen using drones at this point. Just north of the fenced area is the remains of the hotel building and the swimming pool. Mag's brothel also stood at this site. Continue straight north to access the Chocolate Drop House Trail. The area is remote without cell phone service. The nearest services are located in Milford roughly 15 miles southwest.
