Trail Overview
The Hamburgler, also known as D1453/D1455, is just west of Hamburger Rock Campground near the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. The route is frequently used by those who wish to find dispersed camping near the park. The route is narrow and, while not overly technical, can provide challenges that require four-wheel drive and high clearance. There are several spots where you must climb in and out of sandy washes, and wet or windswept sand can make it challenging. There is hiking, camping, and great vistas across Indian Creek and Hart's Draw. There are no amenities, and the closest vault toilet is at Hamburger Rock Campground. No garbage or human waste can be buried here, and no firewood can be harvested; pack it in, pack it out. There are lizards, snakes, bunnies, crows, and many variations of insects among the desert scrub brush. Cell service is not reliable here, and the closest support is the Needles District Visitor's Center, almost 7 miles west. The route terminates at a locked gate near Indian Creek.
