Trail Overview

This trail is a well-maintained gravel road, that provides access to the Swing Arm City OHV Open Area and Factory Butte OHV Open Area. It also is frequently used to access to a popular viewpoint - Moonscape Overlook. At the North end, it connects to the Muddy Creek Wilderness area. Please be sure to respect the signage on which areas are open to off-road travel, and which areas are closed. All of the Open Area is to the west of this trail, but not all of the west side of it is open.

Difficulty

This is a graded and well-maintained gravel road with no difficult obstacles.

History

Much of the surrounding area and roads were used for coal mining. In the early 2000s, this area was turned into an Open OHV area through many hours of volunteer efforts.
