Trail Overview

Basset Creek - FS 10579 is a 2/10 rated point to point trail in the Ashley National Forest. It is dirt two-track from start to finish and is exceptionally narrow in places for a larger vehicle. While the USFS MVUM states that it's usable for most vehicles, in reality, it's best suited for SxS or below widths. While passable in a larger vehicle, it has extremely tight clearance on the width between trees in some areas. Being tight two-track, with a mix of dirt, mud, and rocks, makes for some challenges but is certainly navigable. Numerous wildlife species are seen in the area, and it does break out into open sagebrush range for a portion of the trip.
