Trail Overview

RBS19 is a two-way, mostly dirt trail that connects Cross Mountain Road to CR 63. The trail follows the power line for much of the route before branching off toward the main road. This is a narrow trail with limited areas to pass or pull over, so drivers should watch for oncoming traffic and plan before entering tight sections. The trail surface is mostly dirt with some muddy spots and areas of standing water that can hold for several days after rain. Most of the trail stays fairly dry in normal conditions, but the low spots can become slick or rutted when wet. There is also one small creek crossing along the route that is typically less than 12 inches deep. Overgrown trees and brush are common along RBS19 and will likely drag along the sides of your vehicle. Pinstriping is possible, especially for wider trucks and SUVs. The trail does not have major ledges, deep water crossings, or extreme obstacles, but the narrow width, limited passing areas, mud, brush, and changing wet-weather conditions still require careful driving. The trail ends at CR 63, which is a main road. If exiting from that side, slow down and watch closely for cross traffic before pulling out.

Difficulty

RBS19 earns a 3 rating because it is mostly a dirt trail with no major technical obstacles, but it does have narrow sections, overgrown brush, muddy low spots, standing water, and a shallow creek crossing. In dry conditions, the trail should be manageable for most high-clearance 4WD vehicles. After rain, the muddy sections and standing water can make traction more difficult and may increase the chance of rutting.
