Trail Overview

RBS13 is a two-way dirt trail that connects Turley Road to Jake's Branch Road. The trail follows the power line for much of the route, giving it a more open feel in several areas before it briefly turns into the woods and then comes back out into the open. This is a narrow trail with limited places to pass, so drivers should watch for oncoming traffic and plan before entering tight sections. The trail has several steep grades with loose rock, which can make traction more difficult, especially during or after rain. Water collects in multiple low spots along the trail, and some muddy or wet areas can reach around 12 inches deep depending on recent weather and trail traffic. In dry conditions, most of the route is manageable with a high-clearance 4WD vehicle, but wet weather can make the loose rock climbs and muddy sections more challenging. RBS13 is not an extreme trail, but it does require more attention than a basic dirt road. The combination of steep grades, loose rock, narrow trail width, mud, standing water, and limited passing areas makes careful tire placement important. Drivers should expect changing conditions and use caution on the climbs, especially if the surface is wet or rutted.

Difficulty

RBS13 earns a moderate rating because of the steep grades, loose rock, muddy low spots, standing water, and limited passing areas. The trail does not have major ledges or deep water crossings, but the climbs can become slick and more difficult during rain. In dry conditions, it may feel easier, but wet conditions can quickly raise the challenge level and make traction harder to maintain.
