Trail Overview
Pipeline Ridge Trail is a narrow, two-way dirt trail that connects the end of 4 Lane to S7 Trail. This route is a good connector, but it is noticeably tighter and more technical than 4 Lane. There are limited places to pull over and pass, so drivers should stay alert for oncoming traffic and be prepared to back up if needed. The trail surface is mostly dirt with several washed-out crossings along the way. These washouts can create issues for longer wheelbase vehicles, especially where the rear bumper or hitch may drag when entering or exiting the dips. After rain, water can collect in these washouts and may reach over 12 inches deep depending on recent weather. A few sections also have loose rock that can make traction more difficult, especially when the trail is wet. Near the S7 end of the trail, drivers will encounter a very steep, rocky incline. This is the most challenging section of Pipeline Ridge Trail. The loose rocks can shift under the tires and cause a loss of traction while climbing. Careful tire placement and steady throttle are important here. In dry conditions, the trail is manageable for a properly equipped high-clearance 4WD vehicle, but rain can increase the difficulty quickly.

Difficulty
Pipeline Ridge Trail earns a 4/10 rating because it includes washed-out crossings, possible water over 12 inches deep after rain, loose rocky sections, and a steep rocky climb near the S7 end. Longer wheelbase vehicles may drag in the washouts, and the narrow trail with limited passing areas adds to the challenge. The trail is not extreme, but it does require more attention, ground clearance, and traction than an easier dirt road.
