Trail Overview
FS 674.1A is a short, muddy little side trail that peels off the main Johnson Gulch corridor and punches into some thick timber and rolling terrain. After a good rain, it can get rutted and slick fast--expect some mud holes, soft spots, and tight turns through the pines. It's a fun one to explore if you're looking for something a little rougher without committing to a long haul. A couple of pullouts along the way make for quick camps or day-use hangouts, and there's plenty of room to set up targets if you're there midweek and it's quiet. Just keep an eye on local fire and shooting restrictions--this area sees enough use that the Forest Service occasionally steps in. This one's a local favorite when conditions are right. Pack in, pack out, leave no trace, and tread lightly.
