Trail Overview
Bombard Draw kicks off just west of Black Fox Campground and works steadily uphill into a narrow valley that feels tucked away from just about everything. It's a solid Forest Service road with a few washed-out sections, some embedded rock, and one or two off-camber turns that'll wake you up -- but overall, it's a solid 2 on the difficulty scale and totally passable with a high-clearance 4x4. This route feels like it was carved by runoff -- the way the valley folds in on itself, you'll follow the natural grade through layers of exposed limestone and pockets of thick pine. The draw is a great connector if you're looking to loop trails or sneak deeper into the interior away from the crowds at the campground. Elk and deer frequent the upper flats, and you'll catch wildflowers and springs in the right season. There's not much in the way of campsites along the draw itself, but it's the kind of place you scout for next time -- especially if you're the type to post up in quiet places other rigs overlook. Pack in, pack out, leave no trace, and tread lightly.
