Trail 21

Trail Overview

Trail 21 departs from Trail 14 and starts descending off the hillside on a semi-steep grade, dropping down to a road crossing. It continues winding through the trees on a tight path, with silty corners. It is a very dry and dusty forest of lodgepole pines, and the trees closely line the path in many spots where you need to watch your handlebars on the tree trunks. It looks like there's been some bar bashing in a few spots already. There are a couple of small downed logs that have become permanent fixtures of the trail, but they are very easy to ride over, only jutting 6 inches out of the trail. Watch out for small sticks and roots in the trail, but it remains mostly free of rocks or obstacles. After 0.7 miles, it ends at the intersection with Trail 10.

Difficulty

This is rated as "Most Difficult" within the trail system by the forest service. However, the only technical element is the narrow tree spots, tight curves, and a couple of short and steep climbs, making this still an easy trail that is ideal for less experienced riders. It does have more elevation change than some of the surrounding trails, with a couple of steep climbs, but it is still easy and approachable for newer riders.
