Trail Overview

Trail 19 is an easy trail through the River South OHV Area in the Deschutes National Forest. Although designated for ATVs, a lot of the trail is narrow between the pine trees, which would feel tight for an ATV, and the trail looks mostly frequented by dirt bikes. The trail weaves through widely separated ponderosa pines in a dry and dusty forest, constantly snaking between the trees. It has lots of silty corners, tight tree gaps, and sharp curves that come up quickly. Watch out for oncoming traffic, as this trail system allows two-way traffic. Midway through, it gets up to a high point on a hilltop and has a nice view overlooking the surrounding mountains and forest, before it drops down a gradual descent deeper into the forest. There are a couple of short, semi-steep hills both up and down. The trail is very similar throughout the entire 2.6 miles.

Difficulty

This is an easy route as it is mostly just tight and winding, with very little technical element. There are no rocks or big obstacles, with only a couple of small hills. However, ATVs should expect narrow terrain between the trees.
