Trail Overview
This trail begins near Big Lake and ends near the midpoint of Trail 14. It is part of the Santiam OHV park, near HooDoo Ski Area. Access is via Big Lake Road from US Hwy 20, about 20 miles west of Sisters, Oregon. The trail meanders through pine forest and has some soft sandy stretches that get softer as the summer progresses. It is a 50" restricted trail, and is only wide enough for a single ATV, but is a two-directional trail. It has some whoops and corners sharp enough to have berms. There is a jog to the right as it crosses the 810 road (Old Santiam Wagon road). There were a few large rocks to negotiate. The trail crosses a section of the old Santiam Wagon road, which is also worth exploring. The adjacent section of the old wagon road is open to mixed use, including passenger vehicles and all OHV categories. Trail maps are available at the Sisters Ranger Station, and often at the staging area next to Big Lake Rd on the way to the trail. Electronic maps are available from the McKenzie Ranger District website.

Difficulty
The difficulty rating is based on an ATV. Dirt bikes and Adventure motorcycle riders may find the soft sand makes it a little more challenging, but the trail is still very doable and good for skills development. Trail mapping was done with an 800cc adventure motorcycle.
