Trail Overview

This route takes you from NF 11 (Quartzville Scenic Byway) to Detroit Reservoir via the Lucky Buttes Lakes Trail and NF 2212. It follows paved NF11 until you reach NF 1155 (Lucky Buttes Lakes Trail) and follows that until a crossroads, when you will choose to go north and continue on NF 2212, which will lead you to Detroit Lake. The trail is a little washboard on the Quartzville end, quickly changing to gravel roads in good conditions. Passable by most vehicles. Be on the lookout for mountain views, as well as views of past fires. Many dispersed camping spots and other roads to explore along the way. A great afternoon through the route to get from Quartzville to Detroit. The road is in good condition and usually passable from June through November. Once snow hits, the road will be impassible quickly and will hold until the snow melts (sometimes as late as July)
