Hellgate Recreation Site

Trail Overview

This is a nice trail that is definitely easier during the summer. The technical rating ranges from between a 1 to 3 in difficulty. There are some mud slides, but they are easy enough to get through, and the road ended at a good-sized washout. This trail goes through some beautiful country. The trail starts next to the Rogue River between Merlin and Galice. There is no camping, but Indian Mary Park and campground are about two miles past the turn-off. There is an outhouse picnic day use area right where the trail starts, along with walking paths down to the amazing Rogue River.
