South 560

Trail Overview

The South 560 is part of the Oklahoma Adventure Trail and is a long, straight gravel road in good condition, running through expansive agricultural land with fields full of livestock. Following recent rains in May 2025, the area appears lush and the nearby dams are full. A noticeable dip in the road requires attention, especially as the route is frequently used by local farmers. Drivers should proceed with care and be prepared to yield. There are no dispersed camping areas along this stretch, and travelers will find no services such as trash disposal or access to potable water. Cell coverage is limited, making advance planning advisable before travel.

History

The Oklahoma Adventure Trail is a unique and ever-changing route that crosses through the state and allows visitors to avoid major roads and towns. Created by two Oklahomans and contributed to by numerous more, this trail is 70 percent dirt roads and 30 percent paved, and takes riders and hikers through scenic, historical, and diverse regions throughout Oklahoma. Although the route was curated by dual-sport motorcycle riders, the Oklahoma Adventure Trail can be ridden in a 4x4 vehicle, bicycled, or hiked.
