Trail Overview

This trail goes through Little Missouri National Grasslands North of ND68. The trail is easy at first starting on a maintained dirt road once the trail turns to two-track it becomes gradually more technical with a few steep climbs that require 4WD and deep ruts that will need to be avoided. Some parts of the trail have been badly eroded and may require a spotter. There are multiple places to stop and enjoy the views that this area of the Grasslands has to offer.

Working northeast from County Road 1, the trail is washed out. There is an alternate to the north, but I did not check it out. Unsure if that is passable. If you start from the south, follow the Tour of the Grasslands Route until it meets up with Little Missouri Grasslands and you will make it through. Trail is rough and deteriorated in spots. Avoid the section State Trust Land on the south side of this trail, as it is closed to motor vehicles - Google ND OHV trails - and you’ll be able to find a map of where that is. Easy trail, but take your time since it is so rough.

This trail is open except for the section that crosses North Dakota State Trust land. You will get stopped and told to turn around, best case scenario. There is no marking for where state land starts. Good luck navigating the mess that is the Little Missouri National Grasslands.
