Trail Overview

Sullivan's Pass is a One-Way trail in the east-to-west (clockwise) direction. The first mile is a long descent down, and the second mile climbs back up to Trail 1B. It's a pretty wide singletrack the entire route. The descent down is very troughed in many spots, switchbacking down, with small logs and roots across the trail, and lots of embedded and loose rock, creating moderate rock shelves/stair steps down. It goes between some giant boulders that are scenic. The trail is very similar on the ascent, with frequent embedded rock layers and roots creating lots of moderate shelves that will require good momentum and maintaining traction. The ascent is less rutted, but it does have a tiny stream crossing and lots of sharp corners as it switchbacks up. Expect rock shelves up to 2 feet tall, often a series of several small shelves in a row, and larger embedded layers of bedrock that you must ride over.
