Trail Overview
Trail 9C is a 3.4-mile-long dirt bike-only trail that offers a technical and challenging ride through wooded terrain. The trail begins gradually with minor roots and the potential for ruts and mud, particularly in the spring. Early segments of the trail can be confusing due to so many intersections. As the trail progresses, it becomes narrower, winding along the mountainside with off-camber slopes, loose rocks, troughs, and slick conditions, especially when the red mud makes the surface slippery. Riders will face tight rocky switchbacks, tree root obstacles, and small rock shelves--at least a foot tall--that are often off-camber and slick. Steep, loose descents and climbs with embedded bedrock, larger boulders, and challenging ruts make the trail technical and difficult, particularly in wet conditions. After zig-zagging up the mountainside for nearly three miles, the trail gradually ascends toward the overlook on Trail 2C. From there, riders can connect to the 9 EXT single track or other SxS trails.
