Trail Overview
Trail 1B travels one-way east to west, starting at the intersection with 1B Upper. After about a quarter mile, riders reach the "Roller Coaster Drop," a steep, blunt bedrock shelf approximately two feet high, with an easy bypass available. You can hit the obstacle straight on, but it will still require a moderate level of experience. Only dirt bikes are allowed on this obstacle; SxS and ATV vehicles must take the easy way around. The bypass offers a smoother, curvy route through the trees, though it remains steep. The remainder of the trail features a gradual descent with numerous sharp corners and switchbacks, additional small downhill rock shelves that are not as technical as the Roller Coaster Drop, and potential for downed trees. One notable section includes a deeply troughed path carved nearly four feet below the forest floor. Several connector trails and bailouts provide options to shorten the route or return to the staging area.
