Wills Canyon - FS 5008

Trail Overview

Wills Canyon makes a 4.6 mile moderate ATV loop off of White Willie Trail. From the northern entrance at the intersection with 113, this trail is a wide shelf with packed down loose rocks, through a pine forest. There are lots of previously cut logs, and always potential for more downfall, as this is a high alpine forest environment. There is one big switchback that is wide, but comes up suddenly. You get some nice views as the trail traverses the hillside on the shelf, overlooking the mountains. At the intersection with 9278, the trail turns up a rocky ravine that is troughed and steep for the last mile and a half of the route. It becomes deeply rutted, with some off-camber slopes and deep troughs that ATVs will have to navigate and straddle. There were several freshly downed logs on the trail in early season from a recent wind storm, but the trail looks highly maintained, and it is likely that the logs will get cut for the season.

Difficulty

This is a moderate ATV trail due to several rutted sections that are deeply troughed and off-camber, plus a consistently rocky surface. Expect a few steep climbing spots as well. This trail is better suited to intermediate riders.
