Trail Overview
The Little Apache Trail is a 2.8-mile-long loop that starts from the Silver Overflow Campground in the Lincoln National Forest. The trail starts to the north of the restroom on the east side of the lot. It is overall an easy and approachable trail for newer or younger riders looking to practice in forested terrain, with nothing overly difficult. The trail has a few sections that have a heavier layer of loose rock, some deeper ruts, and potential for downed logs, but it is mostly flat, with no exposure risk or major obstacles. It meanders through the ponderosa and fir trees, with blue diamond markers on the trees to help follow the route. This is a cross-country ski route in the winter as well, so there are frequent trail markers with blue diamonds to help mark the route. Throughout the loop, it loses a few hundred feet of elevation, and then gains it back at the end as it climbs up to the road next to the Silver Campground. The climbs are beginner-friendly, and the trail stays wide where riders can pick good lines through the ruts and rocks. It's a fun short trail to ride while camped at the campground.
