Trail Overview

This is an easy ATV trail in the Glade Run Recreation Area that winds between juniper trees in a high desert terrain. It's mostly dirt, with a bit of sand, with lots of whoops. It's ATV width for 50" vehicles and is marked by ATV signs the whole route. The west end starts off of a main dirt road, and it rides along the base of the rolling desert hills, past a couple of oil wells. You get a really awesome view of the La Plata Mountains to the north. Over the course of 1.5 miles, there's not much elevation gain, but it goes slightly uphill from west to east. It flows over the rolling hills, up and down small hills, and ends back on the dirt road.

Access Description

The Glade Run Recreation Area is a high desert playground full of extreme rock crawling trails, sandy washes, and desert ridgelines. The southern 3,800 acres are an Open OHV Area, while the northern three-quarters of the rec area are limited to designated routes, which include unvegetated wash bottoms that are wider than the widest part of your vehicle. The main staging area is at the intersection of Glade Road and Pinyon Hills Blvd. The BLM has official ratings for the 4x4 rock crawling trails, but conditions and difficulty ratings are constantly changing in the desert.
