Trail Overview

Overton Wash 1 is a busy trail that starts just outside of Moapa Valley, making its way through the wash before ascending into the hills. SXS enthusiasts particularly favor this route. It offers a variety of scenic features, including the opportunity for a quick hike into the nearby slot canyons right as the trail transitions out of the wash. As you navigate this route, be cautious, as the wash is a popular shooting area. Look out for sharp target debris that may be hidden in the sand, ensuring a safe journey through the terrain. On either side of the trail are fascinating caves and washouts that add an adventurous flair to your exploration should you take a closer look. Once you exit the wash, the trail steepens, introducing rock ledges, deep washouts, and off-camber hills with a more technical driving experience. Be prepared for a loose rock challenge as you climb into the hills. At the top, you are greeted with a small shelf after a steep climb. Important Note: A few bars of LTE service are available along the route, though they may fade in and out at different points. As always, download your offline maps before heading out and come prepared for the desert environment with ample water and supplies.

Difficulty

This trail is rated a 5; the technical challenges presented by longer steep climbs, rock ledges, and off-camber sections make it an enjoyable run for more experienced off-road drivers. A SXS or equally equipped machine is the optimum vehicle for this area as the trails are a little narrow.
