Trail Overview

Old Spanish Trail Access offers a delightful drive that takes you from the base's boundary to the northern boundary of the OHV area, providing a lovely experience through the expansive desert landscape. This route features easy, rolling hills and long straightaways that make for a pleasant outing, perfect for soaking in the area's scenic beauty. As you journey along the trail, you'll encounter a few short steep hill climbs and descents, along with deeper drops into and out of washes that may have slight shelves scattered throughout. These features add an element of excitement to the drive, making it a fun adventure for all who take it. The trail also provides excellent opportunities for side explorations from either side, inviting you to venture off and discover more of the breathtaking desert scenery. However, it's important to note that while Old Spanish Trail Access accommodates vehicles, the Old Spanish Trail itself is designated for hiking only--motorized use is prohibited. Important Note: Expect around three bars of LTE service that may fade to none as you reach the northern side, so be sure to download your offline maps before your trip. Always come prepared for the desert environment with sufficient water and supplies to ensure an enjoyable journey.
