Trail Overview

Goldstrike Pass Road is a rough, backcountry road that climbs high into the north end of the rugged Eldorado Mountains between Boulder City and Hoover Dam. The road offers extraordinary birds-eye views of Lake Mead, the entire Hoover Dam area, Fortification Hill, Black Canyon and beyond. Every year, hundreds of thousands of motorists (including locals) exit at Nevada Route 172 and turn left to head for Hoover Dam, never giving a second thought about the mountains to the right.

Difficulty

This is semi-maintained road, it does become rutted out after rainstorms. It's a narrow shelf road, so you do drive very near the edge in some spots.
