Trail Overview
This is a two-part trail that's mainly 2-track and is comprised of hard-pack dirt. The trail starts off pretty tame when accessed from Kings Canyon, but conditions worsen after turning onto Trail 214. There are a few spots on 214 where off-camber conditions will reach 18-20 degrees, maybe more if you take a bad line. There are several cattle gates that will need to be opened and closed along this trail. Downed trees and limbs will also litter the 214 section of this run, so a chainsaw is highly recommended. There are a few areas with deep ruts and washouts that will fill with mud after rainfall. The muddy areas could become very deep in a few areas of the trail. Portions of this trail are very narrow, and there are a few shelf areas on these narrow sections. There are places to pass other vehicles on the 719 section, but not on the 214 section. The trail can be used as an out-and-back (7 miles total) or as a connecting trail to Kings Canyon. Plan on a few hours if doing this as an out-and-back.
