Trail Overview
This route begins narrow but soon opens into a broad ribbon of well-graded gravel. Most of the surface feels smooth, yet pockets of deep stone can shift the wheels without warning. Side roads splice the main line every few miles, and the gravel near these crossings turns rough and corrugated, so ease off the throttle when you approach them. The surrounding hills add a steady rhythm of climbs and dips, and local traffic appears more often than you might expect on a backcountry stretch, so stay alert. You will not find campsites, water taps, trash bins, or dependable cell coverage anywhere along the way, so come prepared to handle every need yourself.

History
The Gravel Line follows a scenic stretch of Nebraska's rural past, from Kansas to Nebraska, entirely on gravel. These quiet backroads once linked farms, rail towns, and prairie homesteads--routes shaped by everyday life on the Plains. Today, the trail invites travelers to slow down and experience the landscape much as early settlers and locals once did. It's a peaceful drive through rolling hills, open skies, and the quiet history woven into Nebraska's countryside.
