Ward Mountain

Say you’re an 8!!! Much harder than expected. I have ridden many 4/10 rated trials before. This should be rated higher. If Blue mountain is a 4/5. Ward mountain is a 6 at least. Still a great ride! True single track with tight switchbacks. Expect rocky sections and logs. We cleared 2 large logs that had fallen on the trial.

Trail is most definitely not a 4, more like a 7 at least. There is nothing super technical but it is a non stop rocky loose climb. There is very little rest and almost no shade. Fun trail with some nice views especially if you're looking for a workout.

I'm new to ratings. All I have to say is if you expect this to compare to rock and roots (5/10) at Blue Mountain, you're in for a surprise. 4700 feet of vertical gain, and it's pretty much continuously rocky, rooty and loose. Excellent ride, amazing views. The trail is sustained and steep. Not a lot of shade on this one, so don't go when it's hot out. A hand saw is not a bad idea in case of deadfall. I rode over three logs going up, and quite a few smaller trees. One of the logs was avoidable by riding around it. Photos are only a taste of what is out there. Didn't picture most of the hard sections because I didn't want to stop. If the rock riding is feeling too difficult within a few hundred yards of the trailhead you may want to turn around. It gets harder. After the first couple of hundred yards it gets pretty smooth. Halfway up the trail will get noticeably rockier. Stays this way to the top. Hang in there because the views up top are phenomenal. Absolutely excellent ride.
