Trail Overview

Trapper Peak Trail is the trail that you would take to get to the Trapper Peak Hiking Trail trailhead. That being said, this trail has more use than just off road driving and, in turn, will usually see higher traffic. This trail does have some rocky sections, but the rocks are no bigger than 5 inches in diameter, and most are smaller. The trail has a very minimal amount of ruts, and they are very small, along with washboards being the same. The surface is mostly gravel, and although there are some potholes, none of them are very big. Overall, this is a smooth driving/riding trail. This trail does have some sections where there is a steep drop-off on the side of the trail. It is also two vehicles wide for the most part, but as usual with the trails in this area, some sections are narrower than two vehicle width. Especially towards the end of the trail, however, there are plenty of pullouts and places to pass oncoming traffic. This trail has a good amount of turns and switchbacks, which can get fairly tight but are easily manageable. This trail is a steady climb the entire way, but it isn't excessively steep at any point. The tree and bush branches seem to be regularly trimmed off the trail, so paint scratching is no concern. Along the way, there are some decent views from the trail of the east side of the West Fork Valley. This is an in-and-out trail, so you will have to go out the way you came in. The end of the trail is the hiking trailhead, and there is plenty of room to turn around and park some vehicles.
