Trail Overview

Starting from Montana Highway 282, you will take the bend onto Tizer Lake Road, which leads to Prickly Pear Road. Prickly Pear Road goes through private land, but there is a designated route to access Tizer Lake. A compressor or other method to air tires up or down is recommended since the majority of the trail contains large rocks and loose gravel. High-clearance vehicles are not necessary at the beginning of the trails. However, once you make the right-hand turn toward Tizer Lakes, there are several water crossings, most of which are just under 12 inches deep.

We made it about 3/4 of the way to tizer lake before turning around. It appears some high clearance 4x4 may have made it further than us, but there’s some spots with deep snow pack that is currently semi-solid. I’m running 33” tires with a 2.5” lift on my 24 Tacoma and there’s a few spots where the snow pack has a melted rut in it that came very close to high-centering us a few times. Screenshot with map location dot is where we made it to. Seems to be melting at a good pace but definitely had us puckered a few times.
