Trail Overview
This is the northern access section from the pavement of Skalkaho Highway back and up into the mountains. There is a sizeable dispersed camping area right at the beginning near the pavement with large level gravel spots perfect for larger campers and RVs. No pit toilets were noticed in this area. As the trail ascends into the hills, there are tons of creek access pullouts and a few fantastic camping spots right on the water. About halfway up, there is a small parking pullout with access to the Skalkalo Creek Jerry Lake hiking trail. Some amazing pullouts with outstanding views of the Sapphire Mountain Range are near the top. The route itself is wider at the bottom and well-graded; it narrows for only one vehicle closer to the top with occasional pullouts. Some tighter corners are loose gravel. There is no cell service up here.
Difficulty
Some tight loose gravel sections get narrower near the top. One may have to reverse to allow a larger oncoming vehicle to pass.
