Trail Overview

Cabin Creek is a fun 9-mile-long single track that goes through the Gallatin National Forest. The northern end starts along a ridge line in wide-open grassy meadows at the intersection with Carrot Divide. It has awesome views of the Madison Mountain Range almost the whole way. It starts as a narrow trail on smooth dirt that is fast and flowy. It starts to have a few more embedded rocks in the trail at times as it goes through an old burn area and a few spots that are full of loose rocks on small climbs that add some difficulty. There are small stream crossings that are a bit muddy and rutted, or with lots of roots zig-zagging across the trail. This is a fun one because it has a good mix of terrain throughout the 9 miles and amazing views. The southern end is at the intersection with the Red Cub single track.

Difficulty

This trail is intermediate difficulty because there are several rockier sections during the 9-mile route that are covered in small loose rocks, or have larger embedded rocks. There are no singularly large obstacles or ledges, and a lot of the trail is very easy, but the additional rocky sections make it a bit harder. This trail is very gradual and doesn't have many steep spots.
