Trail Overview
This route is a fairly straightforward drive through the woods with a mostly dirt-based surface and gentle terrain. While it is generally easy to navigate, there are several washouts along the trail that can catch drivers off guard if speed is not kept in check. Slowing down through uneven sections is recommended, especially after rain or seasonal runoff. The trail is lined with overgrown brush and trees in multiple areas, so light pinstriping is possible for wider vehicles. The wooded setting gives the route a remote feel despite its mild difficulty. At the end of the trail, a roundabout provides space to turn around and head back out.

Difficulty
Suitable for beginners, stock 4x4s, SUVs, and most high clearance crossovers in dry conditions. The dirt base is straightforward, with a few washouts that require slower speeds and attention, especially after rain or runoff. With the route being only one vehicle wide, brush-lined sections may cause light pinstriping, particularly for wider vehicles, and wet conditions can create soft spots. The turnaround at the end is easy and stress-free.
History
Mark Twain National Forest was established in 1939 and spans large portions of southern Missouri. Many roads and routes through the forest originated as access roads for timber, land management, and rural travel, and today they provide access for recreation and outdoor exploration.
