Trail Overview
Cub Creek, Dawes Ridge, or Iron County Road 15 (IDs ICR 15 and FS 2391) is a semi-maintained gravel road consistently throughout its track, being part Iron County right of way, and half solely the Potosi Unit of Mark Twain National Forest. The track features graceful bends and elevation changes on the ridge-top section as it passes by its four Forest Service spur roads, being lined with trees from beginning to end, only broken by the gap of the spur roads, offshoots, and small dispersed camping cutouts. Despite the name, the road never crosses or even rides within view of the Cub Creek, but the Creek does rest close by in the valley to the east and northeast of this ridge road. In fact, the Creek begins amongst the entry of this road, Missouri Route 32, and Missouri Route DD, and flows northward. The graceful road eventually ends at a large turnaround lot, which is well used in hunting season, from here turn around and head back the way the road was entered. Several private property owners use this road to access their properties. Be alert for signage and purple paint restricting access and marking boundaries of private properties.

Difficulty
Cub Creek (FS 2391) is given a base rating of 1/10, being a semi-maintained gravel road, riding the spines of the ridge top, having mild hills, with spots of small active erosion, soft spots of surface mud, small loose cobbles, and natural rock poking out at the surface. It is safe to expect all the normal gravel road complications of washboards, mounding, and potholes. The difficulty could increase due to a lack of maintenance or extremely wet and inclement conditions.
