Trail Overview
Trail 177E branches off from the Prospector Trail and begins as a fairly wide route that is subject to seasonal closures between 04/01 and 11/30. The trail is minimally maintained and shows signs of wear, with a surface that alternates between rocky, sandy, and uneven terrain. Potholes and scattered forest debris are common, and muddy puddles may appear after rain. Despite the rough conditions, the trail offers a scenic and enjoyable drive as it winds through a wooded landscape. At approximately one mile from the junction with Prospector Trail, 177E opens into a small clearing. Beyond this point, most maps indicate that the trail transitions into the Tomahawk snowmobile/rail-trail only route, although there is no visible signage on the ground to mark the change. Drivers of full-size vehicles should use caution and turn around at the clearing to avoid damage or violating trail use restrictions. There are no formal campsites along Trail 177E, and no facilities such as toilets, trash bins, or potable water sources. Cell service may be intermittent or unavailable.
