Trail Overview
Meridian Road begins with a steep, narrow ascent on rough gravel. The surface is bumpy and rocky from the start, making for a slow and careful climb. Early on, the trail leads to the Saw Hill Cook County Snowmobile Club building, after which it becomes more technical. From there, the route features a series of steep ascents and descents, with loose rock, muddy patches, and large puddles in low-lying sections. Several trails branch off from the main route, though most appear to be intended for snowmobile use. This trail is best suited to compact four-wheel drives, side-by-sides, and ATVs. Toward the end, the trail reaches a large gravel pit closed off by locked gates. There is one possible clearing near a snowmobile trail that may offer an opportunity for dispersed camping, though the area is not formally designated. The trail surface transitions to pavement at the pit, and this change may not be reflected in some maps. No formal campsites or amenities such as trash disposal or potable water are available, and cell service may be limited or unreliable.
