Trail Overview

Iron Pipe, of the Straight Arrows OHM Trail system, is a novice-level single-track motorcycle trail that alternates between flowy and somewhat tight woods sections. Whether you're new to woods single track riding or experienced in all terrain types, this can be a fun trail for riders of all skill levels. Running Northeast to southwest, Iron Pipe has hard-packed dirt among birch and maple trees, loamy soil underneath the pines, and a touch of sand sprinkled throughout. Early on and throughout the trail, some sharp corners should be well paid attention to, or could result in a high-side spill. There is only one truly tight spot (pictured), but expect to kick field goals between trees along the way. Mud can frequently be found, and downed trees are possible, particularly after significant winds and weather. Roots and small rocks show up in a few different areas, and while the terrain is generally low stakes, there are a few step-ups or small serpentine-type hills to work through. Roughly 2 miles in, there is a dip that leads right back into a short step-up climb over 2-3 small roots that can be a fun little obstacle. Then, around halfway through, you'll notice that, almost regardless of the time of year, there are sections of the track that are covered in leaves and can be a little tricky to follow if you're not mindful. The back half of the ride opens up a little bit, but as you've already realized by this point on the trail, the soil type never stays the same for very long underneath you. For the average rider, you could spend 30-50 minutes completing this trail at 6.7 miles in length, while more advanced riders could get through in 20-30 minutes, but please be mindful of your speed and aware of traffic in both directions, especially on busy weekends. Shout out to the Straight Arrow Enduro Riders for doing a great job maintaining this trail for all of us to enjoy.
