Trail Overview

This trail is a "pick your line" style route that offers drivers a variety of options depending on their rig's capabilities and comfort level. Some lines are challenging and feature massive mud holes that can swallow tires and test traction, especially after rainfall. Other routes provide simple bypasses that allow you to avoid the gnarlier obstacles altogether. Because of this flexibility, it's a good spot for groups with mixed skill levels or vehicle builds. As you continue, this trail eventually leads to the entrance of Skull Alley and the well-known obstacle zone known as Ted's Revenge, which offers even more technical challenges.

History

The Iron Range OHV Recreation Area was built on reclaimed mining land, once part of the rich Mesabi Iron Range that fueled U.S. steel production for over a century. Today, this 1,200+ acre site blends industrial history with outdoor adventure, offering a rare chance to ride through the remnants of Minnesota's mining legacy.
